Daily Budget
Support
The address below reaches a person, not a ticket queue. Most questions are answered further down this page — but if yours isn't there, or you would rather just ask, please do.
Email us
support@dailybudget.aiWe read everything that arrives. We answer as fast as we can, usually within one working day.
Four things make an answer much faster:
- The email address on your account.
- Which screen you were on: Dashboard, Budget, Transactions, Weeks or Settings.
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if a number looks wrong.
Never send us your password or your bank sign-in details. Nobody here will ever ask you for either, and a message that does isn't from us.
Common questions
- I can't sign in
Use Forgot password on the login screen and we will email you a reset link. Each link works once and then expires. If the message has been sitting in your inbox for a while, send yourself a fresh one instead of trying the old link. If the email has a six-digit code instead of a link, enter that code on the reset page along with your email address.
- Nothing from us has arrived
Check your spam folder first. A new sender whose every message has a link in it often gets flagged, and both confirmations and password resets are exactly that.
You can send either one again from the screen that asked for it, and that is safe. The older link just stops working. If the address itself has a typo in it, email us from the address you meant to use and tell us what you typed.
- Adding your partner or family
Settings → Household. Invite someone by email address and they get a message that takes them to sign up, with that address already filled in. They pick their own password. The invite works for that one address and no other.
They show up in your household list once they confirm their email address, not the moment you send the invite. So a name you expected to see but cannot usually means one thing. They have not opened the link in their inbox yet.
Three roles decide what each person may change:
- Owner — full control, including who else is in the household.
- Spouse — the same, except they can't remove the owner or change the owner's role.
- Member — sees everything, and logs and edits what they spend each day.
- Where today's number comes from
Everything you told the app you earn, minus everything you have already promised: bills, debt payments, savings. What is left is split across the days in the period. That is what you can spend today, and it is the one number the Dashboard leads with.
Spend under it and the difference goes toward your savings goal; the Weeks screen tracks that day by day. Change any amount on Budget and today's number updates right away. There is nothing to redo and no report to re-run.
- Connecting a bank account
Not yet, and the Linked accounts panel in Settings says so rather than showing a button that does nothing. Every number in Daily Budget today is one somebody entered. When connections do arrive they will only ever read through Plaid. No payment or transfer can be started, and you enter your bank sign-in on Plaid's own screen, so it never reaches us.
- Reminders and alerts
The three toggles in Settings → Notifications save what you pick, but nothing is being sent from them yet. The morning reminder, the Sunday summary and the bill-due alerts all need a delivery method that is not turned on. Setting them now means your choice is already saved for when it is.
- Getting your data out
The Transactions screen saves every row as a CSV or an Excel file. You get description, amount and date, the same three columns either way.
- Changing the email address on your account
Not something you can do from Settings yet. Email us from the address currently on the account, tell us which address you want instead, and we will move it. Sending it from the address on file is how we know the request is yours.
- What Daily Budget costs
One plan per household, covering everyone in it, yearly or monthly. The pricing page has both figures. The first 30 days are free. You pick a plan and enter a card to start. Nothing is charged for 30 days. On that day the plan starts on its own at the published price. Cancel in Settings → Plan before then and you are never charged.
One price, one household, and no higher tier. Inviting your partner or the rest of the family never costs more. Anyone who was using the app before there was anything to pay holds a code that covers the price in full, for good. It shows up in Settings → Plan, which is also where you enter a code somebody gave you.
- Deleting your account
Settings → Account, at the bottom of the page. It asks for three things in order: your password, a six-digit code we email to the address on the account, then one last confirmation. Nothing is deleted until that last step. Stop at any point before it and everything stays exactly as it was.
What goes with the account depends on who else is in the household. If you are the only person in yours, the budget goes too, and the panel lists what that covers before you confirm. If anyone else is in it, the budget is theirs as well and it stays. You just stop being a member.
The one thing the app will not do is remove a household's only owner while other people are still in it. That would leave a household nobody can manage. Make somebody else an owner in the member list first, and the option opens up.
